5 Branding Mistakes to Avoid

We’re sure you’ve figured it out by now, Branding is one of the most important aspects of your business. Here are 5 Branding mistakes to avoid when creating and distributing your brand.

1. Follow the leader

The best brands find their success in being creative and unique. Some brands may share some similarities with each other, especially if they are in the same industry, however it is always possible to differentiate the two brands.

It’s important to not follow in the path of a potential competitor as you will always be in the shadow of their successes and also to not look like a clone.

2. Inconsistency in branding

Your brand must stay consistent across all types of media. having a consistent brand is important for your audience as it shows reliability and care for the brand.

This could include using the same colour scheme across all of your marketing or even down to how you answer the phone; it is all-important to the customer.

3. Overcomplicating branding

When starting the branding process, it can be tempting to add more than you need. Your logo doesn’t need six colours and it does not need to have seven different graphic elements to represent your company.

Keep it clean and simple. Clean elements are much more likely to be recognised and remembered by consumers.

4. Altering your branding

If you already have an established brand, then be careful when altering it. On most occasions, the price of changing your brand can be dramatic and you can lose a great deal of business.

Customers like things the same and they are much more likely to remember a brand that’s stayed the same for years than one that’s changed. Always calculate the pros and cons and only go ahead with the alteration if the positives outweigh the negatives.

5. Trying to appeal to all audiences

Face it, there’s going to be people who don’t appreciate what you do in comparison to others, and that’s fine!

Choose your demographic and focus on them there is no use creating a brand that tries to appeal to all audiences as you will slowly find yourself constantly changing and overall, diluting your message.
